There are many american poets. I admit I belong in the group called american poets. My husband is a part of the american poets. American poets are everywhere. Some american poets are not very good american poets, but other american poets are excellent american poets. I love to read poetry from older american poets, but I also enjoy reading poetry of newer american poets. I don't have to worry about mistranslation when I read the works of american poets. If I read poetry from someone other than american poets, I find myself preferring to read it in the native language. I don't have that problem when I read what american poets write.
